创作者的话# Development Log #1 The System Started Noticing Us We finally have the first playable prototype of *Among Layers*. At the beginning, the project was simply about "using bugs as mechanics." But during development, the idea slowly evolved into something more interesting: > What if bugs are actually bridges between different layers of a system? That became the core of the game. In *Among Layers*, the player is not breaking the game randomly — they are connecting systems that were never meant to interact: * UI and physics * Debug layers and reality * Time and movement * Memory and space As development progressed, we realized the game felt most interesting when the world itself started reacting to the player's actions. So instead of making the player stronger and stronger forever, we introduced a new concept: > The system begins repairing itself. The more the player abuses Layer Bridges, the more unstable the world becomes: * UI elements leak into reality * Collision breaks apart * Past movements leave ghost residues * Debug information becomes visible Eventually, the game recognizes the player as an "Invalid Entity." At that point, the experience changes from: "using glitches to solve puzzles" into: "surviving inside a system that is trying to erase you." Right now, the prototype already includes: * Layer Bridge mechanics * UI interaction puzzles * Early system instability effects * Ghost residue experiments * Initial repair-system behaviors The next step is polishing the escalation: from curiosity, to instability, to deletion. We want the player to feel like they are slowly crossing the boundary between the game and the system behind it. And maybe becoming the final bridge themselves.
