Note that both of these studies used 3,200 lbs. (1,451.5 kg) projectiles, not the 2,900 lbs. (1,315.4 kg) 1922 AP nor the 3,850 lbs. (1,746.3 kg) 1942 AP. These study projectiles were apparently based upon the 16" (40.6 cm) AP Mark 5, not the later "super-heavy" 16" (40.6 cm) Mark 8.
